The combination of The Vanities’ electro-rock with Bob Fitzgerald’s country vocals and the addition of the remix by Jammy offer a diverse and intriguing listening experience to their latest single “Just Passing Thru.”

Cardiff electro-rock duo The Vanities, Rhys Bradley (vox/guitars) and Adam Hill (bass/keyboards) return with a standout soft rock ballad, “Just Passing Thru,” their 8th Single to date, featuring award-winning country artist Bob Fitzgerald. The single, a dual A-side with an adult contemporary pop remix by Jammy, drops in 19th April 2024.

Fresh off the success of their acclaimed debut album “2001” that included the singles “London” and “Private Army,” The Vanities showcase their love of 90s grunge & 80s synth-pop with “Just Passing Thru.” The track’s Side A features Bob Fitzgerald’s unmistakable vocals in a gospel backdrop, weaving a poignant narrative of love, loss, and embracing life’s journey. Country and gospel influences intertwine beautifully, creating an instant classic with a powerful emotional core.

The flip side offers a high-octane remix by Jammy, the South Wales super-producer. Fusing rock, country, and funk, this infectious easy listening anthem is a surefire favorite. It highlights The Vanities’ versatility, seamlessly transitioning from heartfelt ballad to pulsating slow dance track.

Written by Rhys Bradley, the song’s lyrical themes of resilience in the face of loss resonate deeply. Lines like “Got fire in this heart, I had faith from the start” showcase a determined spirit, while “But I won’t lay down this time and I won’t be tamed” exude an unyielding strength.

Bob Fitzgerald’s vocals perfectly complement the track’s emotional weight. His rich baritone adds a layer of gravitas, amplifying the song’s message of perseverance. The country and gospel influences create a warm, introspective atmosphere, perfect for a reflective listen.

The key line, “Just passing through now, Ain’t got no worries today” repeat throughout, creating a powerful mantra becomes an anthem for resilience – acknowledging the impermanence of things while finding strength to keep moving forward.

The single launch kicks off with an intimate show at Tiny Rebel, Cardiff, on April 19th. Joining the festivities are the fantastical Mr Bewlay, the captivating Kaysha Louvain, and the up-and-coming Ophelia’s Beard.

The band’s whirlwind April continues with a Record Store Day celebration at the cult independent record store The Second 45 in Llanelli, Wales on April 20th. Later that day, they’ll open for Britpop legends The Bluetones at Pontardawe Arts Centre, marking the only Welsh date on the band’s nationwide tour.

“Just Passing Thru” is a powerful and versatile offering, showcasing the depth and range of The Vanities’ musical talent. Don’t miss this instant classic and its electrifying remix!
